Barlow looks for debut win
Craig Barlow
Barlow holds a slender lead going into the final round

America's Craig Barlow will take a one-point lead into the final round of The International.

Barlow collected 11 points to move to 28 and ahead of former champion and overnight leader Steve Lowery.

Barlow has made the cut in just five of 13 events this year and has never finished higher than third in a PGA event.

Mark Brooks and Rich Beem also moved into contention after the third round of the $4.5m event in Colorado.

The tournament uses a modified Stableford scoring system that rewards aggressive play, but Lowery faltered after his two impressive opening rounds.

The 1994 winner began the day with 21 points and a four-point lead, but his six-point haul was not enough to hold off Barlow's charge.

Brooks, the 1996 PGA Championship winner, picked up 11 points and is two off the pace, while Beem's 15 points over the Castle Pines Golf Club saw him move to fourth on 25 points.

Sergio Garcia had a sensational third round, collecting 19 points to move within sight of the leaders.

He is just seven off the pace, while Open champion and winner of the event two years ago Ernie Els is among three players with 20 points.

Third-round leaders (US unless stated):

+28 Craig Barlow
+27 Steve Lowery
+26 Mark Brooks
+25 Rich Beem
+21 Sergio Garcia (Spa)
+20 Steve Stricker, Greg Norman (Aus), Ernie Els (Rsa)
+18 Ian Leggatt (Can), Geoff Ogilvy (Aus)
+17 Chris Riley
+16 Lee Janzen
