Police are on the look-out for a pair of Berwick Rangers fans who pelted rival supporters with celery.

The attack happened during the clash with Stranraer at Shielfield Park on Saturday.

The two supporters ran out behind the teams and started lobbing sticks of celery at a small cluster of visiting fans in the centre stand.

The pair were thrown out by stewards, but managed to get away before the law could get their hands on them.

One Stranraer fan wrote to the Berwick website complaining: "I drove 200 miles to watch the game, only for some fat bearded git to bombard me with celery."

Police believe the incident was an act of retaliation relating to a corresponding fixture at Stranraer when Borderers supporters had coins thrown at them.

A Berwick fan writing under the alias "Vegiman" told the club website the attack was a "satirical" protest.

Formula glum

A 20-stone formula one fan won a racing car in a competition - then found he couldn't fit in it!

Adrian Dawn, from Beeston in Nottingham, scooped the 220mph Jaguar - which was driven by Eddie Irvine last season - in a competition.

He beat off the challenge of 15 other Grand Prix enthusiasts in a race simulator at Silverstone.

Adrian said: "Winning a �1m car and then not being able to get into it is the pits. There was no way my bum would fit in the seat. All I can say is that Eddie Irvine must be a very small bloke."

"I used to have a full English every morning like most lorry drivers. I'm actually on a diet now and have lost five stone, so I hope I'll be able to sit in my F1 car one day."

Adrian, whose other car is a Granada, added: "If the missus thinks she can pop out in it she's got another thing coming.

"We'll be taking the Granada to the shops as usual this week."
