Players from Chile's under-20 football squad have been fined....for laughing.

The extraordinary decision was taken by the South American country's FA, following an 'incident' at the junior football tournament in Uruguay.

Midfielder Luis Jara told Las Ultimas Noticias newspaper: "We were eating and someone told a joke.

"We all laughed really hard, but the coach was not happy and told us off.

"Then they decided to charge us. I think they want us to behave as if we were at a funeral."

Presumably they never receive the traditional pre-match greeting "Just go out there and enjoy yourselves".

A racehorse has romped to two wins in the same day.

Altay notched up a double one

Altay cruised to a three-and-a-half length victory over Kelpie at Lingfield on Wednesday after starting as the 13/8 favourite.

Shortly afterwards, the six-year-old's disqualification at the same racecourse a week earlier was rescinded by the Jockey Club.

A charge of irresponsible riding was reduced to careless riding, ensuring a double whammy for trainer Richard Fahey.

After all, it's not often you find yourself in a win-win situation.
