Volz started his career at Schalke

Wimbledon have signed up Arsenal defender Moritz Volz on loan for an initial five-week period.

The 20-year-old normally plays at right-back but can slot into any defensive position.

Dons boss Stuart Murdoch has an injury crisis on his hands, with as many as seven players facing the treatment table.

Murdoch is delighted to draft in Volz in time for Tuesday's trip to Brighton at the Withdean Stadium.

"Voltz has been signed on loan from Arsenal and he is definitely in the squad for the game," Murdoch told the club's website.

"I think anyone who is walking will be out there on the pitch."

Volz has only played one first-team game for Arsenal this season and that was November's Worthington Cup defeat to Sunderland.
