Former France striker Lilian Laslandes is set to leave Sunderland for French club Bastia.

Laslandes will initially join Bastia on a one-year loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer once that deal expires.

The 30-year-old joined the English Premiership side from Bordeaux last summer, but failed to find the net before being loaned out to German outfit Cologne.

"I have come to Bastia to sort out the final details," Laslandes told the French newspaper L'Equipe.

"I am also here to talk about my preparation because I am already behind.

"I will surely need two weeks before being ready to return to action."

Laslandes watched Bastia beat Monaco 1-0 at the weekend to claim their first victory of the season and was impressed by what he saw.

"There was a great atmosphere. I am already eager to play with Bastia."
