| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 00:31 GMT Healy completes loan deal ![]() Healy looking forward to challenge Preston North End striker David Healy has joined Division One rivals Norwich on a month's loan. The out-of-form forward, who has scored just five goals from 30 appearances this season, agreed terms on Thursday. Healy joins fellow Northern Ireland internationals Paul McVeigh and Philip Mulryne at the Canaries as well as former Manchester United colleague Alex Notman. The 23-year-old was delighted with the move.
"I'm delighted to come to Norwich,'' he said. ''It's a club I've always had a lot of time for and it's nice to link up with former colleagues. "I'm here for a month, and I'm going to give it my best shot. Hopefully I'll get some games under my belt. ''We will see what happens from there." Norwich City manager Nigel Worthington, the former Northern Ireland defender was pleased at his acquisition. "I've brought him in because he's a quality striker. I've been aware of him both through Northern Ireland and Preston and hopefully he will help us to score more goals." With the signing of Simon Lynch and George Koumantarakis, as well as the expected return of Richard Creswell, Preston agreed Healy would benefit a temporary move. Confidence back Preston chairman Derek Shaw told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I think the football management team want to get David to win his confidence back. "We've signed one or two more players recently, and he probably feels that he's slipped back a little bit, and the decision's been made to loan him out for a month." Healy signed for North End on January 2001 in a deal worth over 1.8m and remains the club's record signing. |
