| Tuesday, 7 May, 2002, 09:59 GMT 10:59 UK Moyes' double snub Moyes is feeling lonely in the Everton dug-out Everton boss David Moyes has suffered a double set-back in his attempt to boost his backroom staff. Kelham O'Hanlon and Clive Middlemass issued a snub to former Preston boss David Moyes who tried to tempt them to join him at Everton. Moyes was keen to make his former assistant O'Hanlon and chief scout Middlemass part of his plans at Goodison Park.
But both have turned him down and committed their future to First Divsion Preston, and former Scotland boss Craig Bown. Preston chairman Derek Shaw will now be hoping that coach Jimmy Lumsden also rebuffs Moyes' overtures. Shaw said: "We're hoping Jimmy will do what Kelham and Clive did and say 'no' to Everton. "David obviously has a very high regard for the backroom staff at Deepdale. "But so do we, and we want to keep them." Moyes has met with some success in adding to his depleted staff at Goodison by appointing Newcastle's academy director Alan Irvine to a coaching role. |
