Burley has undergone a year of injury misery

Derby County midfielder Craig Burley completed his comeback on Monday night after a year of injury misery.

The Scottish international played for 68 minutes of the Rams' 3-2 win over Wimbledon, before being substituted.

Burley suffered a knee injury in Derby's Premiership match against Newcastle 12 months ago.

The injury deprived Derby of the influential midfielder during a crucial time in their unsuccessful fight against the drop from the top flight.

Monday night's appearance was his first under manager John Gregory.

But Burley still looks set to leave the club and has not been paid since September.

Burley's agent Gordon Smith is negotiating a settlement package for his player after the club made it clear they wanted him off the wage bill.

His return to action will be good news for Scotland coach Berti Vogts who may be keen to add Burley's experience to his young squad.
