| Tuesday, 11 February, 2003, 12:19 GMT Striker earns Rovers trial Prolific non-league striker Robbie Matthews has joined Bristol Rovers for a trial. The 20-year-old builder has already scored 25 goals for Jewson Wessex League leaders Eastleigh this season, prompting Rovers boss Ray Graydon to invite him to the Memorial Stadium for a trial. "We are still looking for a traditional target man," said Graydon. The 6 ft 2 in striker has already attracted interest from Premiership side Southampton as well as First Division leaders Portsmouth. But he will not be eligible to play for Rovers in the Gloucestershire Senior Cup semi-final against Mangotsfield United on Tuesday. |
