Djorkaeff seals Bolton deal
France midfielder Youri Djorkaeff
Youri Djorkaeff's arrival galvanised Bolton
Bolton have confirmed the signing of 34-year-old France midfielder Youri Djorkaeff on a two-year deal, subject to a medical.

The club confirmed the signing on their official website and the deal will be officially announced at a press conference on Friday.

Djorkaeff helped the club escape relegation last season after arriving in February following his release from Kaiserslautern.

With France he won the World Cup in 1998 and Euro 2000.

Bolton manager Allardyce is also in the hunt for Nigeria defender Taribo West, who had a spell at Derby.

"We are waiting for his people to contact us, " said Allardyce.

"He is a quality player who would add a new dimension to the squad and he is the type of player we are trying to attract."

Allardyce has also offered 36-year-old captain Gudni Bergsson a new deal.

The Icelandic defender is set to discuss his situation when the squad return from a trip to Poland.

Bergsson has twice delayed returning home where he has been promised a job in a law firm because of his love for the game.

"We have offered him a fantastic package and the ball is firmly in his court," Allardyce told the club's website.

"I am hopeful that we can agree a deal when he returns to the club next week."

Allardyce's other summer signings include Jay Jay Okocha from Paris St Germain, Akin Bulent from Galatasaray, and Huddersfield striker Delroy Facey.
