Steve Jones of Crewe Alexandra has been called into the Northern Ireland squad for Wednesday's game with Finland.

The uncapped Jones has scored seven goals in his last six games for Crewe.

He replaces the injured Kevin Horlock who had to go off injured during Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Norwich midfielder Philip Mulryne and Leicester defender Gerry Taggart withdrew from the panel for the Belfast friendly on Saturday evening.

Cheltenham's Grant McCann and Luton's Stephen Robinson were added to the original squad.

Mulryne played for Norwich against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday but complained of felling unwell afterwards.

Club officials said he had picked up a 'flu bug and informed Sammy McIlroy that the player would not be travelling to Belfast.

David Healy was on target for Norwich in the 2-2 draw against the Sheffield club.

Taggart is ruled out of the squad because of a hamstring injury.

Preston defender Colin Murdock pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad last week and Cheltenham's Michael Duff was drafted into the panel.

Portadown midfielder Peter McCann has had to pull out of the Northern Ireland U21 squad because of a shoulder injury which required a hospital visit on Sunday.
