FA strikes back
Sven Goran Eriksson is set to demand that all England players report for duty, injured or not.

After watching Paul Scholes appear for Manchester United on Tuesday despite being ruled out of international action, the England coach has been pressured to act.

And reports suggest that the Football Association will now demand that selected players make themselves available to the national boss even if they are carrying knocks.

This hard-line approach will not come in time for England's friendly against Portugal on Saturday, when Eriksson will be without Scholes, as well as David Beckham.

But the Guardian says that the FA's measure will come into effect before the country's first European Championship qualifier against Slovakia in October.

Eriksson has publicly kept quiet since seeing Scholes turn out for United.

But it is understood that the Swede is "frustrated" by Sir Alex Ferguson's team selection for the Tuesday game against Middlesbrough.
