Leeds 2-4 Bolton

Bolton Wanderers moved off the bottom of the Premiership by plunging Terry Venables' Leeds deeper into crisis with a dramatic victory at Elland Road.

The Trotters scored twice in the two minutes right at the death to end their run of eight league matches without a win.

Danish striker Henrik Pedersen put Bolton in front in only the third minute.

But Alan Smith equalised from the restart to herald a long spell in which Leeds appeared to be gaining the upper hand.

Bolton went back in front when Youri Djorkaeff converted Pedersen's pass with 10 minutes to play.

And although their hosts quickly levelled again through Harry Kewell, Bolton had the last word in a spectacular finale.

First, Michael Ricketts was felled by Leeds keeper Paul Robinson but got up to put his team in front from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.

And then Pedersen grabbed his second in injury-time to put the result beyond doubt with a thumping volley from Stig Tofting's cross.

Leeds have now lost four home league games in succession and are in the midst of an injury crisis that saw them start without seven senior players.

And they suffered another setback after just 121 seconds play.

Referee Alan Wiley played a good advantage that allowed Djorkaeff to play in Pedersen, who finished crisply from 16 yards.

However, Leeds responded immediately and drew level direct from the restart.

Stephen McPhail sent Kewell away down the left and the Australian's pull-back was thumped home by the in-rushing Smith.

Leeds then dictated play but lacked incision in attack, while Bolton threatened on the counter.

Home keeper Robinson saved from first Pedersen and then Bernard Mendy just after the half-hour mark.

And at the other end, Leeds came no closer than having a penalty appeal for handball turned down when Anthony Barness blocked Nick Barmby's half-volley.

The hosts continued to dominate after the break and it took an outstanding tackle from Bruno N'Gotty to deny Mark Viduka from 10 yards.

The Australian then played in countryman Kewell, who shot over the bar in the 52nd minute.

Pedersen almost grabbed his second when he hit the post with a quarter-hour to play, but then set up Djorkaeff to put Bolton ahead.

Kewell soon had the hosts back on terms from Smith's pass, but then substitute Ricketts and Pedersen again piled on the misery for Venables and Leeds.
