Moyes confirms Yobo deal
Joseph Yobo battles with Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg

Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed that Joseph Yobo is moving to Goodison Park permanently.

Moyes announced on Wednesday that Everton and Marseille had agreed a deal after 24 hours of negotiations.

We hope to conclude the deal in the next couple of days
David Moyes
The Nigerian defender, who is currently on loan at Everton, is expected to put pen to paper in the next few days.

"The two clubs have agreed a deal," Moyes told Everton's official website.

"We have been working hard to try to finalise the deal and the board at Everton have been fantastic in putting the finances in place.

"There are still one or two matters to be sorted out with Joseph and his advisors, but we hope to conclude the matter in the next couple of days."

Everton had paid Marseille 1m to take Yobo on loan for 12 months and are expected to pay the French giants a further 3.5m to make the signing permanent.

I will be happy to stay
Joseph Yobo
Yobo has played a major role in the Toffees' surge into third spot in the Premiership this season and said earlier this week that he wanted to make his spell at Goodison Park permanent.

"I am happy with everyone, I am used to everything and I am very happy. Of course I will be happy to stay," he said.

"I am more or less settled now."

Everton have lost only once since Yobo settled into the heart of the Everton defence after initially struggling because of injury.

And Yobo added that receiving the fans' backing during his period out had helped him adapt quickly to life in England.

"When I was injured at the start of the season the fans were really behind me, and that helped me settle down very quickly and I was really thankful for that.

"They were behind me when I was not playing. No-one had even seen me play and they were behind me, which was wonderful."
