| Okocha admits shortcomings
He scored his first Premiership goal for Bolton Wanderers last Saturday, but it was not enough to avert a 1-3 loss to Birmingham City. "It was a great goal but it doesn't mean anything to me because we lost the game," Okocha told BBC Sport Online. "I would have preferred it if I did not score and my club had the three points." Bolton are rooted to the bottom of the league table and Okocha acknowledged the need for a rapid reversal of league fortunes. "We (the players) know that we are in a difficult position. We have to do better or we will not get out of this situation," he said. Okocha moved to Bolton on a free transfer from Paris St Germain last summer but has been on the periphery of the side. "To be fair, I didn't deserve to be in the first team until now. "Since I sustained my injury during my first game of the season, I've not been match fit. "But since then I've been working hard and I hope to show my qualities in the team." Despite trying times at Bolton, Okocha said he has no regrets coming to English football. "It might be difficult at the moment but we have so many good players at this club, so I am confident that we will get out of our problems." |
