"But I am not thinking about myself. I am thinking about what we can achieve as a team.

"I am very impressed with the club and the manager. They are ambitious and he is a nice man."

Negotiations over the deal had been protracted - and it was thought at one point that the player's reported wage demands of �3.3m a season would scupper Bolton's hopes of landing the player.

But Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has finally persuaded Okocha to sign - and is delighted with his new signing.

"Jay Jay has a great pedigree. He has flair, ability and huge experience," said Allardyce.

"Our ambition is to bring the best quality players we can to show we are trying to progress in the right way.

"Now we have signed Jay Jay hopefully one or two people will pay more attention to Bolton.

"The infrastructure here is one of the best in the Premiership. The players who come here enjoy their football."
