Ghana reject coach candidates
Burkhard Ziese
Ziese will not get a second chance with Ghana
The Ghanaian FA have taken a surprise decision in selecting a new coach of the Black Stars - by declaring all three candidates unsuitable.

The GFA were expected to today name their choice after interviews with current caretaker-boss Emmanuel Afranie, former coach Burkhard Ziese, and Portuguese candidate Manuel Gomes.

Instead, the GFA panel, which included Ghana legend Abedi Pele, announced that they did not consider any of them met their criteria.

"We didn't find them suitable," said a GFA statement.

Now the GFA have set up an executive council, which has been mandated to look for coach and make a decision within one month.

In the meantime, Afranie will continue in temporary charge.

Gomes has also been turned down
However, he will lose that position once the executive council make their final decision.

Public reaction in Ghana to the decision has been mixed.

Everyone was expecting at least one of the three candidates to be named.

While some have been critical, accusing the GFA of wasting time and money, others have endorsed them, saying that the Black Stars deserve nothing less than the best coach available.
