Asante Kotoko's chief executive officer Herbert Mensah has been removed from his post.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asantes and life patron of the club, also dissolved the club's management and its board of directors.

The Asantehene, as Otumfuo Osei Tutu is called, is regarded as the spiritual leader of the 2002 African Cup Winners Cup runners-up.

His drastic move follows months of poor relations between the management and the Kotoko board.

Mensah, whose management style is said to have played a key role in the rejuvenation of the club, has been on a collision course with the board of the directors, chaired by P.V. Obeng.

With the new Ghanaian soccer season beginning in a month's time, an interim management committee has been appointed by the Asantehene.

The seven member committee is headed by Kumasi based timber merchant Sylvester Mensah Asare.

After Mensah's dismissal, a section of the clubs followers embarked on a peaceful protest at the palace of the king, calling for his reinstatement.
