Udeze's fighting talk
Udeze's performance kept Celestine Babayaro out of the Super Eagles line-up
Udeze is on loan from Greek side Paok Salonika
Nigerian international defender Ifeanyi Udeze is confident that new club West Brom can find a way out of its relegation worries.

"There's belief amongst the players that the club can get out of this situation.

"If they are confident, I do not see any reason why I shouldn't be," Udeze told Gary Wheeler of BBC's West Midlands Birmingham Radio.

He said that his move to the English Premiership, from Greek club Paok Salonika, was a career dream come true.

"It has always been my ambition to play in England.

"While considering my move, I talked to Kanu (Nwankwo) and Joseph (Yobo) and they said that I was making a good decision."

Before deciding to join the 'Baggies,' as West Brom is known, Udeze had trained with Birmingham City, another English side.

But he said that the friendly attitude of the West Brom players helped to sway his mind.

Saddled with a tough fight to lift themselves from the bottom of the Premiership, manager Gary Megson said the Nigerian defender must step up to the demands of English football.

"I'm confident that if he approaches things with an open mind and a good heart, he will adapt," Megson said.

"I saw him at the World Cup and thought he might be a decent player.

"He's quick, he's comfortable in possession and running at the opposition.

"While he's here he has a stage to show what he can do."

Udeze is likely to make his debut for the club in Saturday's away match at Leeds United.
