| Sunday, 29 December, 2002, 17:37 GMT Mugabe's nephew to face charges ![]() Mugabe says he remains in charge Former Zimbabwe FA boss Leo Mugabe is set to appear in front of a special Zifa council, according to reports in Zimbabwe. However, the charges he will face are not of a criminal nature, claims the Harare-based Herald newspaper. Mugabe - nephew of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe - will appear in front of the council on 4 January, said acting Zifa chairman Vincent Pamire. "It's not a criminal case," Pamire confirmed. "It's a football matter. The council will decide what do with him." Mugabe was ousted on 12 December after allegations that he had misappropriated $61,575 of Zifa funds. He was given a vote of no-confidence while absent in Nigeria, although he has since protested the vote was illegitimate. But Pamire said the decision remained the will of the council. "The vote of no confidence still stands. The council will pass the last decision on him," he said. Mugabe has described the allegations as "false and groundless." | Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
