Yugoslavian Vesselin Jelusic has been appointed the new coach of the Botswana national team.

The former Angola boss has been given a two-year contract.

The country's FA said Jelusic would begin his job immediately in order to prepare the side for their tough African Nations Cup qualifier againsy DR Congo in Kinshasa on 13 October.

Botswana drew their opening group 9 match with Swaziland 0-0.

Libya currently top the group after their 3-2 win over DR Congo in Tripoli.

Jelusic, who replaces Stanley Tshoswane as coach, was previously in charge of Angola for seven games in 1998 and 1999.

He lost his job after they suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to Mauritius in the African Nations Cup qualifiers.

He has also worked with the Angolan under-23 and coached Luanda club AS Aviacao.
