Egypt established its virtuosity over its Nile neighbors Sudan with a 3-0 victory in a friendly in Alexandria.

This was the 22nd time the two teams have met, with the Pharaohs enjoying 15 wins and drawing five times, leaving only a couple of victories for their Southern neighbors.

The goals came from Sameh Youssef, who was appearing for the first time in the colors of his country, and last season's best player, Mohamed Barakat.

Barakat's brace secured an easy win for the Pharaohs, who have proved to have the upper hand over their eastern competitors, as they also dispatched Ethiopia 4-1 and Uganda 2-0, respectively earlier this month.

Egypt will have one more friendly against Libya on 27 August before launching their African nations cup qualifiers when they will fly to meet Madagascar.

After the match new Egyptian coach Mohsen Saleh refused to call any of the European based players for his friendly matches.

"I do not need them right now, I am trying to build up a new squad and prepare as many players as I can, I will only call them in the official matches," he said.

However, Saleh was criticized by local media for having weak opponents in warm-up rehearsal games, while the 2004 hosts, Tunisia, played a first level quality team like France.

But Saleh defended his strategy, saying "I do not need to play highly competitive matches at this stage while I am constructing a new team."

"I am planning to play teams like France and England in the future."
