Few surprises in new SA squad
Andre Arendse
Arendse is one of the few World Cup players retained
South Africa's new coach Ephraim Mashaba has named his first squad - and it contains few shock selections.

He has picked just three uncapped players for the Cosafa Castle Cup semifinal against Swaziland on 24 August.

Mashaba has kept faith with many of the players that were introduced by his predecessor Jomo Sono.

He also brought back one or two from the Carlos Queiroz era.

The 51-year-old debuts as the new coach when Bafana Bafana meet the Swazis at Polokwane to decide which country plays against Malawi in the final of the southern African championship next month.

Only five players remain from the squad that went to the World Cup finals but that is because only one of South Africa's large foreign-based contingent have been picked for the Swazi game.

Defender Thabang Molefe, who moved last week to Lyn Oslo in Norway, was surprisingly named in the squad given the fact he has just made the move to European football.

The three uncapped players in the squad are Jason Lakay, Sisa Nombe and the defender Gary McNab, who was born in Scotland.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Andre Arendse (Santos), Brian Baloyi (Kaizer Chiefs)
Defenders: Matthew Booth (Mamelodi Sundowns), Tony Coyle (Wits University), David Kannemeyer (Kaizer Chiefs), Thabang Molefe (Lyn Oslo, Norway), Gary McNab (Moroka Swallows), Cyril Nzama (Kaizer Chiefs)
Midfielders: Stanton Fredericks (Kaizer Chiefs), Peter Khoabane (SuperSport United), Clement Mazibuko (Umtata Bush Bucks), Tebeho Mokoena (Jomo Cosmos), Jabu Pule (Kaizer Chiefs), Benedict Vilakazi (Orlando Pirates)
Strikers: Jason Lakay (Lamontville Golden Arrows), Jimmy Kauleza, Lesley Manyathela (both Orlando Pirates), Sisa Nombe (Manning Rangers)
