Zim star scores in French debut
Mwarurawi played with Senegal's Bouba Diop at Grasshoppers
Mwarurawi (centre) played in Switzerland last season
Benjamin Mwarurawi has made a dream start to his French league career with Auxerre.

The Zimbabwe international scored an 89th minute goal in their 2-0 victory over Montpellier on Thursday.

Mwarurawi, who came on as a late substitute, only signed for Auxerre this week.

His performance drew high praise from legendary Auxerre coach Guy Roux.

Roux is known for nurturing African talent like Nigeria's Taribo West and Algeria's Moussa Saib, who went on to become well-known names in Europe.

Mwarurawi made a good impression in the UEFA Cup for Swiss side Grasshoppers Zurich last season, where he was a team mate of Senegal's Pape Bouba Diop.

Before moving to Europe, the Zimbabwe international had starred for South African side, Jomo Cosmos where he won South Africa's player of the year award in the 2000 season.

Mwarurawi will be hoping to maintain a run of form, which could be crucial to Auxerre's campaign in the European Champions League.
