"If my contract is extended for another two years or so, that would be the best," the Dane said. The coach's current deal comes to an end in December, and was co-funded by the Malawi government and the Danish government. But Denmark pulled out of supplying aid to Malawi this year, with the government paying Splidboel's salary for the remaining four months of his contract. But Splidsboel said he is ready to lower his demands if the Malawi government cannot afford him at his current salary. "The thing is, it depends on what they put on the table for me," Splidsboel told BBC Sport Online. "I just like working with Malawians." He added that he wanted to help Malawi qualify for Tunisia 2004 - once they had won the Cosafa Cup. The Flames, currently in England to prepare for their semi-final encounter with Zambia, have not lost their last eight international matches. According to the latest Fifa world rankings, Malawi are the second most improved side in Africa - after Senegal, whose heroics at the World Cup accounted for their leap up the table. | Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
