Manager Sam Allardyce told the club's official website that the Nigerian's salary demands had scuppered any chance of a move. "That is all done and dusted. "He (West) won't be joining the club," Allardyce said. Allardyce had earlier expressed an interest in re-uniting West with international team-mate Jay Jay Okocha, who has joined the northern English club. West, released by German side Kaiserslautern before the World Cup, would not have cost Bolton a transfer fee. He played in two of Nigeria's three World Cup games, but was subsequently criticized by coach Adegboye Onigbinde for being a disruptive influence at the tournament. | See also: 08 Jul 02 | Bolton Wanderers 15 Apr 02 | Africans abroad 25 Jun 02 | Nigeria Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
