Parreira was the man who guided Brazil to their first World Cup since 1970 when he steered them to victory at USA '94, where they won the Final against Italy on penalties. He has also had jobs as coach of Saudi Arabia and the Fifa All-Stars team. "I have received his application," confirmed NFA secretary-general Taiwo Ogunjobi. Parreira would be the second Brazilian - indeed, the second Brazilian named Carlos Alberto - to take charge of Nigeria's national side if he got the job. Brazil legend Carlos Alberto Torres, who recently turned down the chance to be coach of Zamalek, was very briefly in charge in 1995 before quitting, claiming it was not safe to work in the country. Officials have also confirmed that Milorad Urukalo, former coach of Australia's Olympic side, is also in contention for the post. | See also: 10 Jul 02 | Forum 09 Jul 02 | Africa 11 Jul 02 | Africa Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
