| Saturday, 26 October, 2002, 11:50 GMT 12:50 UK Cuffy on right track Tour match, Pune: West Indies 449-8 dec & 35-0 drew with Indian Railways 402 all out A century for home batsmen Yere Goud was the highlight as West Indies tour match against Indian Railways ended in a predictable draw on Saturday.
Cuffy rocked the top order of the domestic champions with three quick strikes in the morning session after the home side resumed at their overnight 178 for one. But Goud hit 12 fours in his 11th first class century, leading Railways to an eventual 402 all out midway through the evening session. West Indies were 35 for no wicket when play ended with opener Chris Gayle, who hit 154 in the first innings, nine not out and Wavell Hinds on 22. Goud was eventually caught behind by stand-in skipper Ridley Jacobs pushing forward against leg-spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo before the innings ended two runs later. Off-spinner Gareth Breese bowled a steady line but found little help from the pitch to return an expensive two for 103 in 31 overs while Nagamootoo took two for 75. West Indies' poor catching on the tour continued as they dropped two catches after flooring a dozen two Test defeats so far. |
