Harrison ready for greatness
Julio Pablo Chacon and Scott Harrison after Saturday's WBO title fight

Scott Harrison is poised to become the richest boxer ever to come out of Scotland.

Promoter Frank Warren insisted again after Saturday night's defeat of WBO featherweight champion Julio Pablo Chacon that Harrison had what it takes to be the best.

Harrison takes title

And Warren promised the Scot any lucrative defences of his new belt would be held in his native Glasgow.

"This boy will be a superstar and a multi-millionaire and that's something really important to make his family secure," Warren said.

"He will become the richest fighter ever to come out of Scotland just like we did for Joe Calzaghe coming out of Wales.

"He is going to become a better fighter and be up their with the Buchanans and the rest. He is a great fighter.

"It was a fantastic night for Scottish boxing and Scottish sport. You've got a super world champion who's going to go on and make his mark around the world without a doubt."

Harrison's first defence is likely to be against Northern Ireland's Wayne McCullough, with big names such as Mexican pair Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera further down the line.

While the temptation would be to go to the USA to fight for financial reasons, Warren insists that Harrison will benefit from defending his title in Glasgow.

"The crowd were marvellous. Where you promote you want to sell the tickets and have an atmosphere," he added.

"He's done that and he'll become a bigger success story now and his defences will all be here.

"We are going to build it up like we've done with Ricky Hatton in Manchester and other parts.

"The next show will be in Glasgow again absolutely and I want to put an extension on here."
