Harrison lives up to billing
Harrison relaxes ahead of Saturday's fight
Harrison relaxes ahead of Saturday's fight

Scott Harrison's defeat of Julio Pablo Chacon for the WBO featherweight title was what the experts expected.

Eminent figures from the boxing world have been queueing up to praise the Scot in recent months, and Saturday showed he could live up to the hype.

He has been variously described as "the best Scottish boxer for generations" and "the best British boxer in a long time".

  Harrison's record
Turned pro: 1996
Fights: 20
Won: 18
Drawn: 1
Lost: 1
KO's: 9
Victories over former world champions Tracey Harris Patterson and Tom "Boom Boom" Johnson have helped shape the opinion of the boxing fraternity.

In his 20 fights since turning pro in 1996, Harrison has lost just one, a technical knock out by Miguel Matthews in 1997 as the result of a cut.

He won the Commonwealth Featherweight Championship in 2000 and added the British title the following year by beating Richie Wenton.

Further impressive victories over Steve Robinson and Tony Wehbee have cemented his growing reputation.

Harrison, like any self-respecting world champion, is supremely confident in his own ability.

Like Naseem Hamed, a former holder of the very same belt Harrison now owns, the man from Cambuslang fears no-one.

Harrison's manager Frank Maloney and promoter Frank Warren have already voiced their opinion that the Scot is better than Naz was.

Warren has spoken of building a profile for him in the USA.

But before that there are plans to raise his profile in the rest of the UK, as has been done with Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.
