Calleri is enjoying far and away the best season of his career, picking up his first title and moving into the world's top 20. The Argentine claimed his first title in Acapulco and followed it up with a run to the final in Estoril, as well as a semi-final spot in Barcelona.
He then topped that by reaching the final of the Hamburg Masters, where he was beaten by compatriot Guillermo Coria.
Calleri is one of several Argentines moving steadily up the rankings and, like his compatriots, he is very much a clay-courter.
Away from the red stuff, Calleri's record is fairly unimpressive.
He has managed victories over Marat Safin, Tim Henman, James Blake and Thomas Johansson on hard courts during his career.
But just three wins on the surface this year suggests he will struggle to make the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time at Flushing Meadows.
