Keothavong, 26, is now out of the tournament in both the singles and doubles
Anne Keothavong and Anna Smith narrowly failed to reach the women's doubles final at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. The British pair fell short in a final set tie-break to the number four seeds, Russia's Vitalia Diatchenko and Bulgaria's Tatiana Pout. Keothavong and Smith were eventually in the third-set champions tie-break, beaten 6-4 6-7 (0-7) 10-5. Top seed Caroline Wozniacki survived a scare to record a 3-6 6-0 7-6 (7-3) win over Julia Goerges of Germany. The home favourite will now meet Russia's Anna Chakvetadze in the last four. Meanwhile, Keothavong admitted "simple errors" cost both herself and partner Smith victory. "We came so close to winning and we fought hard but it didn't happen for us today," said Keothavong after Friday's doubles defeat. "We started playing better once we were a set and 5-2 down and we played a faultless tie-break in the second set to win it. "In the super tie-break we were a bit unlucky, they got three net cords and we made a few simple errors that cost us." Keothavong added: "We can still take positives from this week as a doubles team, making semis isn't too bad and its been good fun playing with Anna. "Hopefully we'll be able to play more often together if our schedule's work out because we could be a good team."
