Australia's Samantha Stosur made short work of China's Shuai Peng, winning 6-4 6-1 to earn a clash with Hantuchova.

Russia's seventh seed Vera Zvonareva secured the fourth quarter-final place with a 7-5 6-2 win over American Melanie Oudin.

606: DEBATE

"I felt very good on the court today, even though the first set was not easy," said Hantuchova after her first win over a top-10 player in three years.

Jankovic said: "I played really well in the first set and I played really aggressive, but then I just stopped and I especially had trouble hitting my backhand."

In Barcelona, Francesca Schiavone defeated Yaroslava Shvedova 6-1 6-2 and Roberta Vinci beat Alexandra Dulgheru 6-7 (4-7) 6-1 6-2 to set up an all-Italian final.
