Top seed Caroline Wozniacki cruised past Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the second round of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina.

Wozniacki, who won last week's event in Florida, ran out a 6-4 6-1 winner.

In South Africa, British number one Elena Baltacha reached the third round of the International Tennis Federation event in Johannesburg.

The 26-year-old number one seed clinched a 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 win over Germany's Kathrin Woerle.

The Scot will meet Australia's Jarmila Groth, the sixth seed, in the quarter-finals.

"It wasn't an easy match and I also manage to make life difficult for myself out there but I'm really glad I managed to come through it in the end," said Baltacha.

In other second round matches in Charleston, eighth seed Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia was leading Ayumi Morita 6-4 2-0 when the Japanese was forced to retire with a thigh strain.

Vera Dushevina defeated Chang Kai-chen 6-2 6-2, while Patty Schnyder beat Michelle Larcher De Brito 6-3 6-1.
