Audrey Bois was part of the Channel Island's County Cup team

The Channel Islands' women suffered an agonising defeat at the Winter County Cup in Glasgow when they came within one match of gaining promotion.

After beating Isle of Man and Cumbria they needed to get past Bedfordshire to gain promotion out of their group.

Going into the final doubles match drawn 4-4, the pairing of Karen Barnes and Francesca Dubras lost 6-3 6-3 and thus overall 5-4.

Despite losing, captain Karen Barnes was pleased with her team.

"Obviously very disappointed that we missed out, disappointed with the result rather than the players.

"All the players have performed really well and I couldn't ask any more from the girls - it was just one of those things we didn't just pull it off in the end."

It was worse news for the Channel Island's men's team who despite winning their last group match 6-3 against Oxfordshire, were relegated after finishing bottom of their group.
