Watson was seeded fifth in the Championships in Roehampton |
Guernsey's Heather Watson beat Lincolnshire's Samantha Vickers to reach the quarter-finals of the British 18s and Under Tennis Championships. The 6-4 6-3 win in Roehampton put the fifth-seeded Sarnian up against the third seed Stephanie Cornish. Cornish and 16-year-old Watson were listed joint third in the August 2008 national 18 and under rankings. Watson is also through to the doubles quarter-finals with her partner Tara Moore from Yorkshire after a bye. Last year she went out of the 18 and under singles in the semi-finals and was eliminated at the same stage of the doubles before going on to win the 16 and under singles title.
