HAVE YOUR SAYJason Glenister, Ireland

Has Steve Watson, who now plays for Everton, ever been with Liverpool?

No. This 28-year-old defender's previous clubs were Newcastle for 8 years (1990-1998), then 2 seasons with Aston Villa before his 2.5m transfer to Everton in July 2000.

Simon Fuller, Wales

How many times have Wales played Germany and what is the win/lose record between them?

Wales' recent 1-0 win at the Millennium Stadium was only their second victory against Germany 13 full Internationals between the countries. There have been 6 wins for Germany and 6 drawn matches.

Darren Kethem, England

Who was the last domestic player signed by Sir Alex Ferguson for Manchester United?

He has just signed Peterborough's 17-year-old goalkeeper Luke Steele for 500,000. It is reported that the fee could reach 2.5m,(on club and international appearances,) for this talented youngster.

Andrew Pascoe, New Zealand

Hi Albert, hope you can settle an argument for me: Did you play goalkeeper for Nottingham Forest or Notts County at the start of the 1959-60 season?

Not guilty. But I once met a lady who insisted I was Jackie Sewell, the England inside-forward who was capped 6 times while with Sheffield Wednesday (1952-54). He started his career with Notts County.

Jim, UK

In winning the League Championship in 1978-79, Liverpool conceded only 16 goals. Can you tell me who scored against them?

Those "special 16" were scored by McGee and Eastoe (QPR): Kidd (Man.C.); Cunningham and Alistair Brown (WBA); Ryan, pen. (Norwich); King, 2 (Everton); Hawley (Leeds); Price (Arsenal); Royle (Bristol C.); Thompson o.g. (Aston Villa).

Derek, East Sussex

Who was the last played before Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg to score two years running in the F.A. Cup Final?

Another player from a North London was the last to do this - Bobby Smith for Tottenham in the Finals of 1961 and 1962.

Mark, Exeter

During a recent 5-a-side game, we were drawing 7-7 and made a last-ditch attempt on goal. But between striking the shot and the ball reaching the back of the net, the referee blew the final whistle. Should the goal have counted?

My referee expert says "No goal" because the moment the ref blew the whistle the match was over - even if the ball was on its way into goal. But no marks to him for such a hair-splitting decision.

Lee, Bournemouth

What do the 3 lions on the England badge represent?

The lion motif has been on England shirts since the first International in 1872. It derived from the royal standard of the English kings going into battle since the 12th century. In more recent times 3 lions replaced 1 on England's gear.

Ben Bergin, England

A player is not allowed to score when his penalty-kick rebounds to him off the post, but can he pass the rebound direct to another player for him to score?

No. Immediately the penalty-taker touches the ball again when it rebounds to him off the post, he is guilty of "playing the ball twice." The offence is punished by an indirect free-kick.

Sam, Bedford

Although the domestic season has just finished, I can't wait for the new one to start. Do you know when the League fixtures for 2002-03 will be released?

Premiership and Nationwide League fixtures are provisionally issued by mid-June. Clubs are then given a chance to request any important alterations (i.e. to avoid clashing with other events in the area on given dates0< and the confirmed list is usually ready within a couple of weeks. So you should know your team's fixtures while the World Cup is still on.

With the English and Scottish seasons at an end, Albert has taken a break from domestic issues to focus on the World Cup.
