Worcester Warriors have agreed to sign Adam Balding from Newcastle at the end of the season on a two-year deal. The Coventry-born forward, who has played for England Saxons and Sevens, will stay at Sixways until 2012. Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock said: "He's an intelligent player who carries the ball strongly, he will add balance and complement our back row. "Adam has been a league winner on four occasions and has also been part of Heineken Cup winning squads." Balding, 30, won four Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups at Leicester Tigers before moving on to Gloucester where he captained the Cherry and Whites. After a spell with Leeds he moved to Newcastle Falcons in 2008 where he has since made a major impact at Kingston Park. | I want to be able to play a part in taking the club forward and realising those ambitions |
Balding is relishing the challenge of the move to Sixways as he feels the club is heading in the right direction. "I've played at Sixways before and so know it is a very passionate place to play with fantastic fans," he said. "I'm looking forward to becoming part of the club with a great set-up and players around me. "There is a real team ethic at Warriors and ambition to build something special in the coming years. "I want to be able to play a part in taking the club forward and realising those ambitions," he added.
