Gear has enjoyed some of his best form for Worcester this season |
Former All Black winger Rico Gear looks set to leave Worcester Warriors at the end of the season. The 31-year-old was the club's highest profile signing back in 2007 after scoring 11 tries in 19 Tests. But director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We've said we won't stand in his way if he has a significant offer elsewhere." Gear has played 62 times for Worcester but has only scored six tries in the Premiership - and just one this season. He is reported to have had offers from clubs in France and Japan. Ruddock added: "I've made it quite clear that we have to look at the situation in the context of not only where Rico is in terms of performance, but also in terms of finances. "In fairness, he's been playing really well,. "And, if a move doesn't materialise and we've got some money left in the pot, we'd look at whether or not we could keep Rico involved at the club. "It will come down to how our jigsaw fits together and getting in the players we definitely want for the next two or three years."
