Worcester Warriors set to move European Cup tie

The hot air covers failed to save Warriors game against London Irish.

Worcester Warriors may move Saturday's European Challenge Cup match against Olympus Madrid to a different ground.

Warriors' Premiership clash with London Irish was called off last Saturday, despite having a cover on the pitch.

General manager Charlie Little told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Because it's a European competition there is no chance of arranging it in February or March.

"We are in discussion with surrounding clubs who have the dome system to see if they can stage the game."

He added: "We have to play the game this weekend or we'll forfeit the points, which we don't want to do."

Warriors cannot reach the knock-out stages of the European Challenge Cup after losing three of their first four group games, but Little says that the game is still important.

"Although we are out of the competition, we want to play the game, and get some of our players some game time," he said.

"It is in our interest for the Warriors to play the game and we will be doing our best to do so."
