England fast bowler Kabir Ali has cast further doubt on his future at Worcestershire, following his refusal to take part in pre-season training. Kabir is still under contract at the club, despite becoming disaffected at New Road during last season. "He's been a Worcestershire player for a long time," director of cricket Steve Rhodes told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "He is in a contractual dispute with the club, and I am keen to get things sorted out and move on." He added: "It is a sensitive subject, but hopefully it will get resolved." Kabir has asked Worcestershire for his release from the final season of his contract. The club allowed him to speak to other counties, but insisted on £60,000 in compensation. The only county to speak to Kabir were Hampshire, and while they offered the player a contract, they did not want to pay the compensation. Worcestershire have a board meeting set for Monday, 18 January when the situation with Kabir is likely to be discussed.
