The huge dome is rolled onto the Sixways pitch |
Worcester have ensured the game against Northampton Saints on Boxing Day goes ahead by installing a heated dome. The Sixways pitch has been covered for some days, but the tent will guarantee the sell-out match is played. Director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Our covers protect the pitch to minus three but we've also bought in the dome. "It pumps hot air onto the ground and it will be doing so until Boxing Day." Ruddock says the club's indoor facilities have also been put to full use this week. "There is no way we can get outside on the training pitches and the fact we are able to train indoors is a bonus for us," he said. "It's not ideal, because you don't have the space and the width. It is frustrating for the kickers, as they can't work on their game. "But we are a lot better off than a lot of clubs at this time of year." There will be full commentary on Worcester Warriors against Northampton Saints on Saturday 26 December (kick-off 1615 GMT) on BBC Hereford & Worcester on 104 FM and online.
