Ruddock led Warriors to the final and semi-final of the Challenge Cup

Worcester Warriors will throw their youngsters into the European Challenge Cup game at Connacht after their hopes of qualification were dealt a blow.

The 26-21 defeat by the Irish province on Saturday was their second home loss in this season's competition.

Director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "Even if we had won, I was planning to freshen up the side up next week and rest a few guys.

"We have had big intensity in the last couple of Premiership games."

He continued: "So I was going to freshen the guys up before we play Northampton at home on Boxing Day.

"It will allow some of the younger players to go in and play, but it will focus more than ever on the GP.

"If anything it will put more of a focus on the GP and make sure we are strong in the second half of the season and we don't want to overuse our squad in other competitions."
