Kidderminster manager Mark Yates praised the character his side showed to beat Matlock and make it through to the second round of the FA Trophy.
Injury and illness robbed Yates of several first-teamers but they still managed to secure a 2-0 win.
"We had sickness and injuries, we could not play the loan players and we were down to the bare bones," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"The lads showed great character and put in a solid performance."
He added: "Dean Coleman sat on the bench but he was not well, and had not been for a couple of days.
"If we had gone there with the big boy attitude and looked like we did not fancy it, it would have given them even more incentive.
"From the moment we turned up there our attitude was smack on."
