Scotland had the belief - Grove

Alex Grove
Centre Alex Grove is now set for his third Scotland cap against Argentina

Worcester Warriors centre Alex Grove insists that Scotland must now go on and build on Saturday's famous 9-8 win over Australia at Murrayfield.

"A lot of people may be shocked by that," said Grove. "But we have to back it up, make sure it is not a one-off."

"There was always that belief that we were going to win.

"It wasn't a case of 'Let's not lose'. It was always 'We are going to win' and you could tell that the boys believed it," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"We showed that we are capable of beating anyone.

"Australia are a quality side and we made it very difficult for them."

Grove, who was helping to make it two wins from two starts for his country, says the Scots now have to follow it up and beat Argentina this weekend.

"I don't know why we are talking about losing to Argentina," he said. "We should be talking about winning against Argentina.

"We have just won two games, the second of them against the third-best team in the world.

"We should be talking about how we are going to win."

While Grove establishes himself as an international less than a year after making his debut at club level, his younger brother Ollie has been loaned out by the Warriors.

Grove, who has also played for Scotland at Under-20 level, is joined on loan at Championship side Coventry by fellow back row forwards David Askew and Jake Abbott.

Askew made his Coventry debut as a late replacement in their 20-13 defeat at home to Munster in the British & Irish Cup last Friday night.

Grove and Abbott, who has featured in several first team games for the Warriors this season, are now expected to join him in contention for this Friday night's British & Irish Cup home date with Heriots (1945 GMT).

Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock is keen to get his young players out on loan, as he feels there is more intensity in the Championship, than playing 'A' league games.
