Mullan was carried from the field with a serious hamstring injury |
Five Worcester players face long-term injuries after their bruising European Challenge Cup loss to Montpellier. Centre Dale Rasmussen, wing Marcel Garvey, lock Graham Kitchener and props Sean Ruwers and Matt Mullan all left the field, Mullan on a stretcher. Director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford & Worcester it is a massive blow for the young England hopeful. "He will be having a scan on his hamstring, and we will know more then, but he could be out for months." Ruddock added:"With the autumn internationals just round the corner it's a set-back to him and to us obviously to lose him now." Garvey will have an X-ray on his hand for a suspected broken bone. Ruwers and Rasmussen face number of weeks on the sidelines after damaging a toe tendon and a medial ligament respectively. Second-row Kitchener has injured his a-c joint after he was dropped at a line out and landed on his shoulder. But despite the potential injury crisis facing the Warriors Ruddock does not blame their French opponents. "It is a collision sport and in fairness to Montpellier they tackled and tackled and really fronted up," he said. "Selection will be a bit tricky this week, I have planned to rest some guys next week and I won't change that. "As much as we want to to well in the European Cup we realise the Guinness Premiership is the biggest competition and I have to make sure I have a full complement against Harlequins."
