Graham Kitchener has represented England at Under 16, 18 and 20 level. |
Worcester Warriors lock Graham Kitchener says he is happy with his performance in the England under-20's 43-0 win against Japan. The 19-year-old came on during the second half of the opening game in the IRB Toshiba Junior World Championships. "It was definitely a positive start and, in many ways, it was a perfect one", Kitchener said. The youngster has also been named in the starting line-up for the game against Scotland on Tuesday. "We got a bonus point and didn't concede any points which we'd set out to do. There's a lot more to come which is just as positive as the result. "There were lots of handling errors with the weather being as it was, the ball was very slippy, and I don't think we played those conditions perhaps as well as we could have done. "There were a few forced offloads, maybe running when we might have kicked, but on the positive side the set-piece was outstanding." Kitchener is now focussing on the game against Scotland, who lost 17-14 to Samoa in their opening match. "It's always nice to get a home nation in your group because they're always special matches and obviously we're hoping to raise our performance to the next level. "They're a good team and we're expecting a real physical confrontation there. If we can raise our game I'm confident we'll get the win."
