Ruddock gives Warriors time off

Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones is back in training and could return to action in three weeks.

Worcester Warriors players have been given the rest of the week off by director of rugby Mike Ruddock.

With no game due to the start of the Six Nations this weekend, Ruddock wants to recharge batteries before the home game against Bath on 14 February.

"The boys have a couple of days off to freshen up," said Ruddock. "And we will be back in on Monday.

"We have already done a lot of video work on Bath so it's a matter of coming back in and nailing our moves down."

Warriors have confirmed that Chris Latham will be available for the Bath match, although he has not trained this week.

Latham was carried off against Sale with head and neck injuries, from which he has fully recovered, but he now has laryngitis.

Fly-half Matthew Jones is also back in training, although Ruddock says he has a long way to get back to full fitness.

Jones has not played since injuring an ankle against Newcastle in November, and is targeting the game with Leicester in three weeks' time for his comeback.

Prop Chris Horsman is on the road to recovery following a neck injury, but may not make the Bath game.

Meanwhile, Warriors prop Matt Mullan will make his England Saxons debut against Ireland A on Friday night.

Mullan, who came through the Academy at Sixways, will line up in Dublin with another debutant prop David Wilson.

Also on Friday night, young Warriors lock Graham Kitchener will start for the England Under-20 side at Sixways against Italy.
