Foden has one international cap, won against Italy

Northampton Saints full-back Ben Foden says his performances are being monitored by England.

The 20-year-old was in Martin Johnson's elite player squad for the autumn internationals, but was not used.

Foden told BBC Radio Northampton: "They say they're watching. [England attack coach] Brian Smith says he'll ring me and have chats after games.

"My main focus is to play for Northampton, to keep myself in the frame and I'll see where things go."

Foden was philosophical about missing out on the matches against Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.

"Any player not involved, who's playing well, gets frustrated," he said.

"But it's a tough job at the top, there's always someone who's disappointed and this year it was me."
