Northampton Saints have completed the signing of hooker Brett Sharman from South African side Blue Bulls.

The 21-year-old has been recruited to cover for the injured Stuart Friswell.

Sharman has worked his way through the Bulls' youth system and was a regular in the Pretoria outfit's Vodacom Cup teams for the past two seasons.

Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder said: "Hooker is a specialist position in which we presently need some cover and Brett will provide it."
